As the day progresses, they anxiously await the moonrise, as sighting the moon is the cue to break their fast.

It is believed that the moon symbolizes longevity and prosperity, and women offer their prayers to the moon deity as it emerges in the evening sky. Upon sighting the moon, they perform a series of rituals, including offering water to the moon, followed by a heartfelt prayer for their husbands’ well-being, and finally, they break their fast by consuming their first morsel of food and a sip of water, often fed to them by their husbands.
